ModCloth is launching its second Make the Cut Contest of the year! Not familiar with Make the Cut? It’s a fashion design contest, and in this edition, they’re giving contestants a template on which to create a print pattern for a scarf. The talented winner will have their design produced by and sold on ModCloth, plus they’ll receive a $500 prize! But first, the top 10 submissions will be hosted on the Be the Buyer page, where the community will vote for their faves. Design submissions will be accepted now until Friday, 5/30, and the voting begins on Monday, 6/9. Official contest rules can be found here.

Spikes were all the rage at LA Fashion Week recently so there’s no doubt this accessory, once reserved for shockingly dressed punk rockers, is becoming a staple in women’s fashion. Spikes can be seen on jackets, dresses, handbags, jewelry, even shoes. So be careful next time you hug someone – they might be rockin’ this dangerous look!
Check out some of the spiky options below. Click the image to purchase.* They make a great holiday gift for that fashionista on your list!
The movie , “Thor: The Dark World” is coming out next weekend and I for one am super excited to see one of my favorite superheroes grace the big screen once again. With all the comic book based films coming out (thank you Marvel and DC Comics!), what’s more fun to get in the spirit than to dress with a little comic POW! WHAM! BANG! These comic book accessories are both fun and fashionable and perfect for a night at the movies or hitting your local comic book store or convention to add to your collection.

Tie one on with The Avengers with a bright scarf worn on the neck or as a headband. (As mentioned in my October Favorites Video: youtu.be/-IY-sGwPWQ8.) Thor hammer lightening bolt earrings* and cuff bracelet* are what you need this month to celebrate Thor’s return to the big screen. The Marvel Flight Bag* or Wonder Woman Hobo Bag* will hold all the essentials you need to conquer the world, while chilly nights call for Superman leggings* or Batman over the knees socks*.
Ladies, how many times have you felt your lingerie is so pretty, you just wish everyone could see it? That’s definitely the case with What Katie Did Lingerie – the retro-inspired lingerie brand that recreates the sexy looks of silver screen starlets of the ‘40s and ‘50s. They recently paired with one of my favorite vintage reproduction designers, ReVamp Vintage, for a fashion show unlike any other.
The catwalk took the form of a classic burlesque routine. Models provided a seductive but elegant and playful tease – we’re keeping it PG folks! – showing off ReVamp dresses and pantsuits on the outside, then stripping down to their What Katie Did Lingerie underneath. It was a great way to showcase both designers – and as expected, the crowd went wild!
